2012 Hall of Fame Inductee: Vitro

Each year, we recognize an Avon Partner that has demonstrated extraordinary generosity and a long-term commitment to our mission by inducting them into the Avon Foundation Hall of Fame. The great companies that have been honored in past years are Peace Mark, Verla International, Li & Fung U.S.A., Firmenich, International Flavors & Fragrances, and EB Brands.

This year it is our honor to invite Vitro to join the ranks of those special allies. Vitro is a leader in glass manufacturing and has been an Avon partner in our skincare and fragrance categories for more than 20 years. They have produced beautiful bottles and jars for some of our best-selling products. And they designed, produced, and donated all of the wonderful 2012 Avon Foundation Awards.

Under the leadership of their CEO Hugo Lara Garcia, Vitro has a strong culture of corporate responsibility, and has been a generous supporter of the Avon Foundation for Women. We are so grateful that as part of their philanthropic commitment, Vitro has contributed over $300,000 to support our Foundation's work. So it is with great appreciation that we add Vitro to the Avon Foundation Hall of Fame.

I am so pleased to to receive this award, and to commemorate Avon’s 20 years of commitment to the fight against breast cancer.

Our relationship with Avon has been a long-lasting and special one, spanning over 50 years and the many countries where we work with the company. We at Vitro are proud to be a part of the Avon family and to join the distinguished members of the Hall of Fame, being the first Mexican company to receive this recognition.

The Avon Foundation’s mission to prevent, treat, and eventually eradicate breast cancer is very important to us, as many people in our organization have faced breast cancer personally, or have encountered it through the brave fights of their families or friends. We have witnessed many success stories, but we have also seen the struggle these women and their loved ones have endured. Their determination and courage have inspired us to support the Foundation’s goals each year as it works for a better tomorrow for all women.

Throughout our century-long history, Vitro has placed great focus on corporate social responsibility. We believe that with our longstanding position as a leader in glass production and as the largest glass producer in Mexico, it is important that we give back to the communities we serve in a worthwhile way. The fight against breast cancer alongside the Avon Foundation continues to be an important cause for Vitro.

Avon has set a remarkable standard that exemplifies the difference a company can make in the lives of women through an unwavering commitment and vision for a cause. We are thankful for the opportunity to support this noble effort.
