Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program: Identify - Amplify - Unify
Pfizer and the Avon Foundation for Women have partnered to establish the Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program to support initiatives and organizations to provide information and services that help women and men with metastatic breast cancer navigate the medical and emotional challenges associated with their disease. In total, the Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program will award up to $1 million in grants to advocacy, academic and other not-for-profit organizations who serve the metastatic breast cancer community. This new Avon-Pfizer partnership will ‘put into action’ recommendations from recent expert panels and studies on quality of life issues of patients Identifying the needs of Metastatic Breast Cancer Patients, Amplifying Awareness and Resources, and Unifying to Support the Metastatic Breast Cancer Community.
Goals: The goals of the program are to generate meaningful conversation and action in support of women and men living with metastatic breast cancer. The program will also educate the general public about what it means to live with metastatic disease and drive progress in the way we serve the metastatic breast cancer community.
- Improve the quality of life for women and men living with metastatic breast cancer
- Address gaps in services and information for the metastatic community
- Address barriers to care, information and services for underserved metastatic patients
Eligibility Requirements: Application to the fund is open to nonprofit organizations located in and running programs in the United States that focus on issues faced by the metastatic breast cancer community.
Funding Levels: Applicants may request funding up to $100,000, with the average grant anticipated to be $25,000.
Grant Term: Grant terms of 12 months can start either January 1, 2015 or April 1, 2015.
Application Process and Deadlines: Application to the program is a 2-stage process:
- Stage 1: Letter-of-intent (LOI) – Open to all qualified nonprofit organizations working in the metastatic breast cancer field that meet the general eligibility requirements outlined in the RFA.
- Stage 2: Full proposal – By invitation only based on the review of your LOI submission.

The Avon Foundation for Women uses a paperless application and grants management system. Application to this fund is a two-stage process requiring all applicants to first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI).
