Avon Foundation
Summary of Funding
Initiatives

The Avon Safety Net Program supports institutions and organizations that have traditionally cared for uninsured, at-risk, low-income and minority patients to further our commitment of enabling medically underserved women and men to access post-screening diagnostics and care.

Application deadlines are based on your organization's geographic location. Please see the chart below for regions and dates.

The emphasis of this initiative is to provide public, community, and safety net hospitals and health care systems with patient navigation programs, partial equipment support, and other personnel and infrastructure support that will enhance their breast cancer care services to the medically underserved. The Foundation does not pay for the reimbursement of direct costs of care. Applicants may request up to $125,000 total costs per year, for up to two years (thus, a maximum total grant of up to $250,000 total costs over two years).

*Please note: only a small subset of LOI submissions will be invited to submit a full proposal.

The Avon Foundation for Women uses a paperless application and grants management system. As in prior years, there is a two-stage process requiring all applicants to first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). Following LOI review, a small subset of applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. The 2013 Safety Net Letter of Intent Form can be accessed by following the link at the bottom of this section. Clicking the link will bring you to the login page for a new LOI Form. Here you will either need to create a new account (if you have not previously used the system) or use your existing login information.

If you are creating a new account, it is imperative that you use your functional work e-mail address as your user ID, as this is the e-mail address the system will use to communicate with you about your application. Geographic region is generally defined as the area within a 100-mile radius of the noted city.

Please note: Organizations may receive only one grant from the Avon Foundation Access to Care Programs at one time. This includes the Safety Net Fund and the Avon Foundation Breast Health Outreach Program. Therefore, organizations are ineligible to receive concurrent grants through different access to care funding streams. This does not apply to grantees who are seeking continued funding (a new grant whose term would begin at the close of the current grant) or to grantees that are seeking both research and access to care grants, which is allowable.
