The Avon Foundation for Women is very proud to announce our partnership with the U.S. Department of State in producing the 2011 Breast Cancer Global Congress. This second Breast Cancer Global Congress will build on our first successful collaboration with the State Department in 2008. The Congress will be held in Washington, DC and New York City, October 12-16, 2011.

What Is It?
The Breast Cancer Global Congress is a conference for advocates, NGO leaders, health policy experts, physicians and scientists from around the world. It will include an opening reception, a formal Congress with presentations and discussions, and site visits to local medical centers and to public awareness and advocacy event. Discussion will touch on the global increase in incidence of breast cancer, disparities in survival and outcomes, and emerging treatments and screening tools.
Guests will include global leaders in breast cancer research, detection and treatment, and leadership from hospitals and nongovernmental organizations working in the global breast cancer cause.
The objective of the program is to facilitate, by region of the world, sharing best practices so each attendee can improve their breast cancer outreach, screening and treatment services, and to update attendees on the latest clinical options so they share accurate information with patients in the future. Attendees will leave the Global Congress better informed about the latest technology and forging new relationships within their own region and globally to improve breast cancer outcomes.
Who Attends?
The Breast Cancer Global Congress will bring together approximately 120 breast cancer advocates, NGO leaders, doctors and scientists, and public health authorities. Participants at the first Congress in 2008 hailed from approximately 40 countries representing several regions of the world, including the Western Hemisphere, the Near East, Europe and Asia.
